Its his pet snake i think, he sits and strokes it while he looks dark and controlling, it is of course, the symbol of the downfall of man, thats why he has got one.

This picture has come come to us via the underground however...
He is clearly stroking a cat in this image, as he plots control of the world.
Thus, we can safely go with what we know from that Pulitzer Prize winning blog, the A4.
Here is a Pulitzer(below) so you can get a taste of the dizzying heights to which the a4 have risen.

You sure its not a snake? It looked like a snake in the original pic on the A4 site? Does the evil one have both, or, even more terrifying, is the cat/snake a shape shifter?

It is possible anon, cats are definately evil too. As our comrade earlier pointed out however, snakes are associated with the original fall of mankind. This is a complex area, and we shall look forward to furthur clarification from the A4 themselves, or failing that, we might consult that manual used by such academics; Wikipedia. The footnotes telling us the meaning of such complex words as "thinking" may allow us to wade through this complex literature.
